About the Team

The Next Generation Diving Program offers an exceptional opportunity to train with three of the best-educated coaches in the region.  Each of these individuals bring a perspective to the program that truly enhances it's competitive spirit and ability to communicate with divers of all levels; from the beginner to the most elite.  Diving is a sport that is unique and offers individuals the chance to enhance their motor development and kinesthetic movements which will result in happier, healthier adolescents.

In the three years since the conception of Next Generation, the team has accomplished a number of highly successful goals.  We have  multiple U.S. Junior National qualifiers, and the team has won the 2008 YMCA National Championships at the Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Next Generation practices out of both the Norwalk YMCA and Yale University pools during the main season, September to June.  The elite athletes continue their training for summer regional and national competitions at the Shorehaven Golf Club and the Patterson Club from June to August.

There are different levels of training based on each divers current ability and commitment.  Practice teams range from 3 days per week at one-hour and fifteen minutes per day to five days per week at three hours per day.  It is highly recommended that all of our divers attend at least one Yale practice per week, in order to train on trampoline and three-meter.
